The History
In 1990, the CANTAURI brand was created and began
the development of new wines
Bodegas Alonso González is a family winery, whose beginnings date back to 1977 when "Grandfather Juaquin Zuñeda and grandmother Maria Nieves Estibaliz" started making wine. It was in 1982 when Maria Pilar Zuñeda together with her husband Carlos Alonso González decided to dedicate all their efforts to continue with this tradition, giving shape to their dream by building the new winery located in the town of Abalos; a privileged area for the cultivation of a high quality vine with a unique personality.
In 1990 the CANTAURI brand was created and began making new young wines, crianzas, reservas, gran reservas and marketing them.
In 2001 (till present day) their son, Carlos Alonso Zuñeda took over the responsibility and continued this work with great success, with moderate productions, maintaining the elaboration in the traditional way, with extreme vigilance of the vineyard and selection of the best grapes; that is why every year our wines have been recognised for their quality, both in aromas and in palate and colour. A family winery with a legacy of hard work and effort, which continues to successfully produce high quality wines.
Elaboration
Facilities of 600m2 in surface area
We have a 600m2 facility with the most advanced technologies equipped with the best stainless steel facilities to control fermentation with all the guarantees of quality and hygiene, which allows us to carefully and painstakingly process the reception of grapes and the production of our wines, while always respecting our tradition.
Our annual capacity is 180,000 litres, of which 80% is destined for young wines, 15% for Crianzas, Reservas and Gran Reservas, and 5% for Rosé and Whites.
The facilities are designed to achieve the highest quality throughout the process; destemming is carried out gently with 20,000 litre fermenters for better control, pressing is done by the pneumatic air pressure system.

Capacity for 700 barrels in an underground facility
We currently have a capacity for 700 barrels in an underground facility where the environmental conditions are ideal for the development and nurturing of the best qualities wines.
This is where the wines continue their evolution to become Crianzas, Reservas and Gran Reservas.
Bottle Storage Facility
Containers of 588 bottles each
Once bottled, the wine rests in containers of 588 bottles each, until the wine is ready to be labelled and put on the market. This time will vary depending on the characteristics of each wine.
